The Ottawa Shooting Stars and Rising Stars are proud to offer a full range of summer activities for players across a wide variety of ages, and skill levels. All camps are run as “co-ed” camps unless otherwise noted. Because these camps operate on a first come, first served basis, we cannot guarantee any specific ratios of male to female campers. As such, if you believe the player you are registering would have a better experience in an all female environment, we encourage you to register them for one of our “Girls Only” weeks below.
Camp activities run from 9am to 4pm each day, with drop off beginning at 8:30am, and pick ups running until 4:30pm daily. Please note, that due to school permit restrictions, we cannot extend hours beyond this for early drop off/late pick up options.
Exceptions:
–Rust Shaker Programs: These programs are designed to get kids into the gym to work on their skills, and for small sided games. These sessions will be supervised by an OSS staff, but will mostly be formatted as an Open Gym rather than instructor led drills. All sessions are 90 minutes in length.
i)2013-2016 born players will operate from 9-10:30am daily.
ii)2011-2012 born players will operate from 10:30-12pm daily.
–High School Aged Competitive Development Camps: 2006-2010 born players will have afternoon sessions from 1-4pm daily. These high intensity programs are designed to focus on skill development, and technical refinement in a competitive environment.
i)Specifically the above applies to: Competitive Development Camp – July 21-25th (2006-2010 Born) & Competitive Development Camp – Aug 5-8th (2006-2010 Born)
***All players must be able to comfortably shoot on a 10ft rim in order to register. Our locations do not have the ability to lower nets, so players must be able to consistently hit a full sized rim in order to have an enjoyable experience.***

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the difference between the competitive development camp and the basketball fundamentals camp?
The competitive development camp is 100% basketball related activities from the start of the day to pick up. It is geared towards athletes already in the high performance or competitive stream, or recreational players hoping to make the jump to competitive the following season. The basketball fundamentals camp will have two on-court sessions per day (morning and afternoon), plus additional off court multi-sport activities throughout the week.
Who will be running the camps?
The competitive development camps at Glebe Collegiate will be run by High Performance Director Aaron Blakely, along with Rising Stars coaches and assistants. All Lisgar programs will be run by members of the OSS executive team, current Ottawa Shooting Stars coaches and assistants, and members from the local basketball community. The Roberta Bondar sessions will be run by long time community coach Derick Bulley.
What do campers need to bring?
-Clean indoor running/basketball shoes
-Outdoor footwear
-Water Bottle
-Basketball with their name clearly written on it
-Lunch each day except Friday (Fridays will include a pizza lunch for all participants)
Are there opportunities for part-time summer jobs or High School volunteer hours?
Yes. If you or someone you know are interested in learning more about becoming a camp counsellor or volunteer, please reach out to info@ottawashootingstars.com today with a copy of your resume.
What does the guards/forward camp entail?
This position specific camp will break campers out into either wings, or guards to work on the finer details of playing that particular spot. Forwards include any of the following positions: Small Forward, Power Forward, or Centre. Guards refers to either Shooting Guards or Point Guards. Players will split out into position specific groups each day to work on footwork, positioning, defence, spacing, and more. The two groups will then work collaboratively in the afternoons on larger team concepts and 5v5 scenarios. This camp is geared towards players who want to learn the finer aspects of playing a certain position, or are transitioning to a new position on the court.
What does a typical week look like at camp?
Weeks will vary based on the camp you sign up for, and whether or not it is a position specific or general camp. However, a sample week of the Basketball Fundamentals Camp can be seen below.
