Tom Chadwick joined the Shooting Stars Executive in 2011. Tom is a former varsity player for St. Francis Xavier University and is also a coach with the Ottawa Shooting Stars. His three daughters have played for Ottawa Shooting Stars teams for many years. Tom is deeply committed to ensuring all children can start early on their road to athleticism, learn the value of true sportsmanship and team play, and that every Ottawa Shooting Stars member develops skills, achieves their goals and can celebrate their passion for basketball.
Pat Lychak has been a long time member of the Ottawa Shooting Stars Executive. Pat’s daughter, Morrisa, is a former Ottawa Shooting Star player and played for both Carleton University and Redeemer University College after her Shooting Stars career.
Registrar and Director of Volunteering
This is Val’s third year involved with the Shooting Stars, having two daughters currently playing with the Club. Val joined the Executive last year to get more involved and give back for all the great things the club has given to her family. Being part of the Executive and helping with Club events has been great fun and very rewarding.
Director of Coaching, Vice President Competitive
Dave knows basketball, coaches and kids. He teaches and coaches basketball at Glebe Collegiate High School. He is an assistant coach with the Carleton Ravens Women’s team and is a Master Evaluator at Basketball Ontario. He is a former Brandon University CIS player and former coach of the Ottawa Nationals Juel program. As Director of Coaching for the Ottawa Shooting Stars, he brings a tremendous amount of experience and passion to the role.
VP of House League
Peter Halpenny grew up in Ottawa and has coached youth basketball for many years. Peter played for Nepean High School where he was named a city all-star in his senior year. Peter’s 3 children play in the club at both the competitive and house league levels. This is Peter’s second season on the Shooting Stars Executive.
Director of Equipment, Coach – Bantam A Boys
Leo B. Doyle grew up in Nova Scotia, where he played competitive hockey, baseball and basketball. His parents are members of the Cape Breton Sports Hall of Fame (Builder Category), so coaching and organizing sports is second nature.
Director of Communications and Manager Relations
Sarah has been watching her daughter play basketball on Ottawa Shooting Stars competitive teams for over 5 years. In addition to basketball training, Sarah feels great appreciation for the life skills her daughter has learned over the years with the Stars. Sarah’s communications role for the Stars makes sense given her profession, and her great enthusiasm for the sport fuels her desire to spread the word about this great club.
