FAQ

How long is the season?

The House League season runs from mid-October until the end of March with breaks over Christmas and March break. Competitive schedules vary by age group.

What is the time commitment?

House League teams have one, 60-90 minute practice and 1 game per week. Competitive teams have 2-3 practices per week in addition to their regular season & tournament schedule.

Where do you practice & play?

Our home gyms are all centrally located in Ottawa. Practices/home games typically are no further east than the Vanier parkway, and no further west than Bayshore. Additional travel is required for the competitive program.

What is the OSS philosophy?

Our program is designed to teach the skills of basketball in a safe and fun environment. Our emphasis is on skills development, recreation and team play. Players wishing to compete at a higher level may participate in our competitive program.

Do you have programs for children under 10?

Yes, we have a Novice program for boys and girls aged 8-9 and a Small Ball program for children 6 to 7 years old.

Do you have financial assistance options?

Yes. OSS believes any child that wants to play basketball should be able to. Please reach out to info@ottawashootingstars.com for options which include Jump Start funding, payment plans and more.
