House vs Competitive

House teams compete in games on a friendly basis while Competitive teams strive for victory within the region. Registration begins every fall.

Small Ball

The Small Ball program is open to 4-7 year olds and emphasizes skill development and FUNdamentals: dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork.

  • House League
    House League Friendly Competition

    Practice Frequency: Approximately 1-2 times per week
    Competition Frequency: Approximately 1 competitive game per week for four months and 1-2 tournaments/season.
    Focus: Skill improvement, teamwork, fitness development, making friends and having fun!

  • Competitive League
    Competitive League Compete Regionally and Provincially

    Practice Frequency: Approximately 2 times per week
    Competition Frequency: Approximately 1 competitive game per week for four months and 4-8 tournaments/season.
    Focus: Competition, skill improvement, teamwork, fitness development and performance on the court.

Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteering is a rewarding way to share in your player’s love of basketball. There are many ways to get involved with the Ottawa Shooting Stars.  Depending on your interest level and time to contribute, you can serve as team manager, driver, or fundraiser. You can also become involved at the club level.

We are currently looking to fill a number of positions for the 2017-18 season including:

Vice President, Ottawa Shooting Stars Club

The Vice President supports the Club President in the successful management and delivery of basketball programs for Competitive and House league teams, representation of the club to local basketball associations and clubs, participation on the Ottawa Shooting Stars executive and working with members of the executive. This is position is in active mode approximately 10 months/year.

Support (Girls): House Director

Support (Girls): House Director

This individual will support the House Director in the efficient management of the Ottawa Shooting Stars House league, girls’ teams including coach co-ordination and communications, player and parent communications. This person will work with members of the Ottawa Shooting Stars executive to co-ordinate gym times, equipment and competitions.  This position is in active mode approximately 9 months/year.

Director Junior Teams

Director Junior Teams (Small Ball, Novice, Mini Ball)

This individual will manage the Ottawa Shooting Stars Junior Teams including Small Ball and Novice programs. You will be involved in coach co-ordination and communications and player and parent communications. This person will work with members of the Ottawa Shooting Stars executive to co-ordinate gym times, equipment and competitions.  This position is in active mode approximately 6 months/year.
